Firefly Detector GD

The detector is a key element in the operation of the Firefly preventive protection system. Dangerous particles are identified by the detector with multi-level safety against false alarms.

The detector is intended for the indication of glowing particles, sparks or flames at a temperature >400°C in a process section with a defined direction of transport, e.g. a pneumatic transport duct.

Firefly Detector GD is an infrared sensitive detector with glow-energy measurement and multi control zones which gives a high level of security. This unique energy measurement method makes it possible to introduce accurate extinguishing actions in relation to the level of risk.

Technical data:
Multi-zone detection - a unique design that gives the Firefly Detector unbeatable indication assurance. When a particle has been indicated in three control zones an alarm is given. The detector has seven control zones and zone four is positioned straight in front of the detector. This means that an alarm is raised before the particle has passed the detector - no time delay. Measurement in three zones before an alarm is given provides a high level of assurance against disruption.

Energy measurement - patented design. The detector measures the highest energy level in each control zone. Each indication gives information on the number of sparks and the highest registered energy value.

180 degree angle-of-detection - a unique function that gives the detector a high detection capacity - covers the ducts entire cross-section up to a diameter of 800 mm.

Self-test - continuous self-test during operations without any disruptive effects.

Optical indication of operations and alarms on the detector

Self-control of installation. When connected to a system the detector automatically transmits data to the control unit to prevent the wrong type from being installed.

Quick connections - pre-fitted cables with plug-in connectors.

Self-cleaning. The half spherical design of the detector's protective glass is self-cleaning in virtually all applications.

Insensitivity to daylight. The detector is insensitive to non moving light sources and daylight. Only infrared radiation 1.5 - 3.0 mm are accepted, which means that the detector only indicates glowing particles from 400°C and up.

Temperature monitoring of the detector. Cooling using instrument air is required at high process temperatures exceeding 50°C.

Heavy duty metal enclosure - withstands aggressiv industrial environments.

Eight detectors can be connected to one control unit.

Easily complies with EMC directives.
